Totton, Hampshire – Case Study

The brief

An existing client in Totton contacted us about replacing an existing bus shelter after a traffic accident. It was a Pitched Roof Shelter from our Arun Bus Shelter range.

The process

Our team visited the site to assess the damage that the shelter had sustained. However, rather than replacing the shelter entirely. we planned to salvage some parts from the existing shelter and, in combination with new parts, restore the shelter to its former glory.

Repairs and installation

Despite the impact of a vehicle crashing into it, the majority of the shelter’s steel structure was salvageable. We removed the shelter from the location, taking it back to our repair yard to dismantle it for re-use. Combining it with new parts, we re-installed the shelter slightly northbound of its old position as requested by the customer.

Our customer was incredibly pleased and surprised that we managed the salvage many of the old parts, saving money and materials. This is a testament to the strength and resilience of the Arun Bus Shelter range.

“Once again, GW Shelter Solutions design, supply and install another Bus Shelter for Fenland District Council within agreed timescales and budget. Our go to company, especially when requiring glazing and maintenance parts for our older assets which still remain structurally sound and in use today; many of which have had a good coat of paint, a re-glazing to accordingly to local environment resulting in GW Shelter Solutions providing a new looking shelter with a significant reduction in cost when compared to a new installation. I cannot recommend them enough.”

Charlotte Collins, Swansea Council

“Our Council took a long time to find a supplier that could provide a good quality shelter, and we are delighted to work with GW Shelters.  Since 2021 they have installed seven bus shelters and supplied us with spare panels to fit our existing shelters.  Although we are based in Northumberland physical distance has been no problem for site visits.  Our experience has been that GW Shelters provides the right product, a seamless installation and a good after sales service.”
